Holiday Transportation Challenges, Successes and Ideas

Hello, my name is Mandi, and welcome to my blog. As a mum of three and a lifelong lover of travelling, I have embarked on many journeys during the holidays. I have travelled to far-flung places during their religious and cultural festivals, and I have travelled through our own country on special holidays. Along the way, I have learned the best ways to find great deals, beat the crowds, plan holidays away from home and more. I love to write so I decided to create a blog about holiday transportation! I hope you enjoy and learn from these posts! Happy travels!

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Land Freight Services?

Without a doubt, the most popular way to transport good using freight services is by truck. Literally thousands of road miles are covered daily by these trucks as they deliver a huge variety of goods and products, for personal customers as well as business customers. But what exactly are the advantages and disadvantages of using this type of freight transport company? Let's take a look at the pros and cons of each method to help you get a better understanding if you are in a position where you have to decide which way you wish to transport goods.

Advantages

Road freight has a few advantages over alternate ways to move your goods or products. The main advantage is that you can have the goods delivered literally into your hands, at your own door. This saves you the prospect of travelling to a drop off center, or a pre-arranged location to receive your goods. This is appealing to many people. If you are in business, the trucks will deliver goods directly to your premises, and will unload the goods for you.

Another plus point when using road freight services is its economical aspect. If you are moving goods a short distance, or receiving goods from a local supplier, using the road freight option impacts less on the environment that using other methods of transport. Additionally, the delivery time of your goods is set by you, not the freight company. This is a great bonus, as you can ensure you are always there in person to receive the goods. You are not dictated to by the company, and don't have to end up having to make special arrangements to receive the products.

Disadvantages

There are a couple of disadvantages to using road freight as a means for moving goods or products. However, many may view them as weaker than the advantages. If you are transporting personal goods, the big disadvantage is the stringent rules governing what you may and may not transport via road freight. Many items are illegal to be moved by road transportation, including items which are too heavy (this may put the truck and driver in danger due to excessive weight), or too bulky. It shouldn't come as a shock if a freight company rejects your goods due to this factor.

Another disadvantage can include the risk of damage to your goods should the truck be involved in a road accident. While this may seem low risk, if it happens, you may end up losing the goods entirely. The last thing to consider is theft of the truck carrying your goods. Again, it may seem low risk, but armed robberies of trucks can be surprisingly common, depending on your location, or locations the truck must pass through to do its job.

It is easy to see why most people use road freight services, as the advantages tend to outweigh the disadvantages.
